Sectors

The mission of the UNESCO Tashkent Office is to ensure that education, science, culture and communication are taken into account within the activities of the UN system in Uzbekistan.

Education

UNESCO office in Tashkent is working to assist the Government to improve quality and access to education in Uzbekistan through technical advice, standard setting, innovative projects and networking.

Culture

The Culture Sector of the UNESCO office in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) was established in 1999. It is one of the most active sectors since Uzbekistan is rich in historical and modern tangible and intangible heritage.

Science

The Sciences Sector contributes to UNESCO’s mission by using science to build peace, to eradicate poverty and to promote sustainable development. The sector implements major programmes in the freshwater, ecological, earth and basic sciences, while at the same time promoting capacity building in the sciences, engineering and renewable energy.

Communication and information

Equitable access to information and knowledge, support to the development of communication sphere in Uzbekistan were defined as priority by Communication sector of UNESCO Tashkent office. In collaboration with local partners, Communication sector implement projects on enhancing the role of communication and information.
